CAMP FIRE USA ORANGE COUNTY COUNCIL

APPOINTS TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

 

 

              SANTA ANA, Calif., March 1, 2010—The Board of Directors for Camp Fire USA Orange County Council recently appointed two Orange County residents to its Board. “The wealth of experience that these individuals bring to our group is much appreciated,” said Ericka Waidley, CEO of the Orange County Council. “The addition of their skills and service will help us expand our services to more youth and families in Orange County.”

              Camp Fire USA is one of the nation’s oldest and leading co-ed youth development organizations. Established in 1956, the Orange County Council provided 5 million program hours in 2008-2009 as part of its after-school enrichment programs, teen and family education programs, and summer camp.

             

New members, bringing the total of board members to 15, include:

Marty Earlabaugh, MHA of Huntington Beach

With over 20 years of leadership roles for non-profit organizations, Earlabaugh was most recently the Director of Advancement for the Wyland Foundation in Laguna Niguel. She has also served as the CEO of Irvine-based Orange County Community Clinics, a network of 21 outpatient clinics serving the indigent. She holds a Master’s in Health Care Administration from California State University, Long Beach. Earlabaugh is a Camp Fire alum and has served as a member of Camp Fire USA Orange County Council’s Marketing and Fund Development Committees.

 

Lynda Mulley of Lake Forest

As the Director of Business Development and Marketing at HBLA, an Irvine-based CPA firm, Mulley brings 20 years of experience in marketing, sales, and business development in both the product and service sectors. Before joining HBLA, Mulley was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Marshall Reddick Real Estate Network in Irvine. Mulley is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services of Orange County.

Camp Fire USA is one of the nation’s leading non-profit youth development organizations. Founded in 1910, Camp Fire USA currently serves nearly 750,000 boys and girls across the country. As the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the country, Camp Fire USA today provides co-ed programs in hundreds of communities across the United States. Programs include youth leadership, self-reliance, after school groups, camping, and environmental education and childcare. Originally founded as Camp Fire Girls, a name change in 1975 to Camp Fire USA better reflected the organization’s coed status.

Established in 1956, the Orange County Council began by providing Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls programs and camps. Today, programs are co-ed and focus on after-school enrichment, teen and family education, as well as summer camps. Programs and services are offered in collaboration with over 80 schools, churches, community centers and youth-serving agencies across Orange County. In 2008-2009, the Orange County Council provided 5 million hours of program services to 4,500 children, youth and parents. The Orange County Council supports families and youth in 25 Orange County cities. In November, the Orange County Council was only one of three Camp Fire councils nationwide to receive the Annie E. Casey Foundation/Camp Fire USA Families Count: Family Strengthening Award for exemplary practice in family strengthening. ABOUT THE CENTENNIAL

              The Orange County Council’s centennial celebration will last throughout 2010. The keystone event of Camp Fire USA’s centennial will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2010 when Camp Fire USA will mark its 100th anniversary at commemorative centennial campfires held at 7:30p.m.simultaneously across every time zone in the United States.
